Geert Wilders used a cartoon (bomb-in-turban) made by Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, without his permission. Wilders has announced he'll remove it from his film "Fitna".

Saudi-Arabia: Facebook Girl Beaten, Shot Dead By Her Father

Un-Islamic behaviour alert:

A woman was beaten up and shot dead by her father for talking online with a man she met on the website Facebook.

The case was reported on a Saudi Arabian news site as an example of the "strife" the social networking site is causing in the Islamic nation.

It said the man shot his daugther after discovering she had been chatting online to a young man she had met on Facebook.

“Security sources assured Al-Arabiya.net that the father beat up his daughter and then shot her dead,” it said.

According to the Muslim cleric the problem is not the father and his interpretation of the Qu'ran. Facebook is the Great Satan:

A leading Saudi preacher told Al-Arabiya.net that Facebook was a "door to lust" for women and called for it to be blocked to prevent social "strife".

Sheikh Ali al-Maliki said women were posting "revealing pictures" and "behaving badly" on the site, which has become popular with young Saudis.

And keep in mind: Islam is the Religion of Peace and Tolerance. If you criticize it, you're an islamophobe.

Nevertheless, even the Islamic preachers will have to realize someday that "you just can't control human nature".

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – At midnight on Sunday (30 March) the enlargement of the EU's borderless zone to eight Eastern European countries and Malta will be completed through the lifting of air border controls between them and the 15 countries already part of the area.

The enlargement of the so-called Schengen area started on 21 December when land and sea border checks between Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and the other Schengen countries were abolished.

"The enlargement of the Schengen zone to 24 member states is now complete," EU transport commissioner Jacques Barrot stated on Friday (28 March) referring to the inclusion of airports.

"I would like to underline the symbolic and concrete importance of this change," he said.

"The free movement of persons represents one of the fundamental [EU] principles. [It is] concrete, as the life of the citizens moving within the Schengen zone will be very simplified," he added.

400.000.000 people moving within European countries, without having to show their passport (at the airports you still have to show your ID, but not passport while traveling within the Schengen-area).

In the article Muslim scholar Siti Musdah Mulia actually said that Allah created homosexuality:

Musdah said homosexuality was from God and should be considered natural, adding it was not pushed only by passion.

That statement should be fatwa-worthy among the radical Islamic preachers.

The Danish Union of Journalists says it will sue Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders for copyright infringement for using a Danish cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad in his anti-Quran film.

The union says it will file a lawsuit on behalf of Kurt Westergaard, the cartoonist who made the controversial drawing depicting Islam's prophet wearing a turban shaped like a bomb.

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Dutch right-wing lawmaker Geert Wilders posted on the Internet on Thursday a film he said would be critical of the Koran, despite government concerns that it will offend Muslims and cause protests.

The film was posted on his PVV party's Web site.

The site is down at the moment.

Geert Wilder's anti-Koran film Fitna is within the boundaries of the law, Brahim Bourzik, spokesman for the national council of Moroccans, LBM, told news agency ANP on Thursday shortly after it was released on the internet.

Bourzik said he was 'extremely relieved' after having seen the film. 'The worries that I and Dutch society had about riots and the like have been reduced considerably,' Bourzik told ANP.

Lebanon Legalizes anti-Iranian Animated Film: "Persepolis"

"Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi has been unbanned in Afghanistan:

Lebanese authorities on Thursday legalized the screening of the prize-winning animated film "Persepolis", following an outcry and accusations that the banning it by the censors was aimed at pleasing Iran and Shiite clerics.

"We have given the green light for the film 'Persepolis" to be screened in cinemas across Lebanon," an official from the censorship bureau, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Agence France Presse. She did not elaborate on the remark.

On Wednesday, General Wafiq Jizzini, head of general security directorate, which handles censorship, told AFP he had decided to ban the film after Shiite officials expressed concern that its content was offensive to Muslims and to Iran.

"The office that handles censorship matters informed me in their report that the film attacks Islam and the Iranian regime, and this could spark tension with Iran," Jizzini said.

Iranian-born Ehsan Jami, former Labour Party politician and founder of the Committee of ex-Muslims, has announced he will publish an Islam-critic cartoon movie called "The Life of Muhammad".

Ehsan Jami decided to reject Islam after the 9/11 terror attacks. Since then he has defended the right of religious freedom, with the usual consequences:

Ehsan Jami, the committee’s founder, who rejected Islam after the attack on the twin towers in 2001, has become the most talked-about public figure in the Netherlands. He has been forced into hiding after a series of death threats and a recent attack.

The threats are taken seriously after the murder in 2002 of Pim Fortuyn, an antiimmigration politician, and in 2004 of Theo Van Gogh, an antiIslam film-maker.

His cartoon film, expected to be released on the 20th of April, is apparently even more controversial than the dreaded Muhammad cartoons:

Former Dutch Labour Party politician Ehsan Jami, the founder of the Committee of ex-Muslims, has announced that he is producing an anti-Islamic cartoon called The Life of Muhammad which will be released on the 20th of April. The film will show a sexually aroused Prophet Muhammad with his nine-year-old wife Aisha.

And to the courts they go (give'em credit, at least that's a civilized reaction):

Members of the Muslims and government contact organisation, CMO, who have viewed a section of the film, say they will go to court in an attempt to have The Life of Muhammad banned. The organisation has described the The Life of Muhammad as totally unacceptable and extremely offensive.

Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende has written a letter to Indonesia's largest Muslim organisation, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in which he says that the views presented in the anti-Qur'an film of populist leader Geert Wilders do not represent those of the Dutch government.

Mr Balkenende says the Dutch authorities cannot ban the film since it has never been broadcast. However the Justice Ministry will take steps once the film has been released if there are valid reasons to do so.

The Web site on which the Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders was promoting his film, which is said to be critical of the Koran, has been suspended by its U.S. hosting service.

The site formerly showed the film's title, "Fitna" ("Coming Soon"), and an image of a gilded Koran. Now it shows a note that the U.S. company, Network Solutions, is investigating whether the site violates its terms of service.

"Network Solutions has received a number of complaints regarding this site that are under investigation," the note said.

The leaders of The Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) are most certainly referring to verbal attacks, and not physical and violent attacks on embassies, national flags, film producers, caricaturists and so on.

I prefer verbal attacks which, predominantly, are detected in western countries.

The OIC should spend more time on dealing with the misunderstanders of The Religion of Peace. The radical islamists are the real enemy, also for the moderate muslim.

A Saudi woman refuses to submit to the foolish law that prohibits women from driving.

She films herself driving, goes home and uploads the clip on Youtube. On Women's Day:

A Saudi woman has flouted the Kingdom's ban on women driving and posted a video of her defiant act on YouTube to mark international women's day.

Wajiha Huwaidar, an activist in a campaign to allow women to get behind the wheel, confirmed to AFP that it was her in the video posted on the video-sharing website. She said she had shot the video in the Eastern Province and uploaded it on Sunday.

Ms Huwaidar said many women were already driving in Saudi Arabia. "Women can drive in the countryside," she said. "There is no problem with that. Some women do the school run everyday without being obstructed. What is important is to allow women to drive in urban areas."

They did not say what was the reason the general wanted them to pray completely nude, but said he would just watch them praying.

Wilder, who had planned to air the short film at a news conference at the Nieuwspoort press center in the Hague, said that paying for the necessary safety measures -- a reported $350,000 -- is too expensive a proposition.

"Apparently, you have to be a millionaire to organize such an event," Wilders said. The politician stressed that his film still will be showing on his recently launched Internet site. "The sooner, the better," he added.

Obaikan, an adviser to the cleric-run Ministry of Justice, defended himself in remarks published in Asharq al-Awsat, saying the society needed to "get over restrictions imposed by ignorant people."

The sisters Zohreh and Azar most certainly would disagree. They were sentenced to receive 99 lashes, and survived. Consequently, they must be stoned to death.

That's the Islamic law in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Two Iranian women received 99 lashes, on survival ordered to be stone till death:

Iran: March 10, 2008. Two sisters – identified only as Zohreh and Azar – have been convicted of adultery in Iran. They have now been sentenced to be stoned to death.

Adultery is a crime punishable by death in the Islamic Republic of Iran, in accordance with the canons of Islamic Sharia law. The Iranian Supreme Court has upheld the stoning sentence.

Zohreh and Azar have already received 99 lashes for "illegal relations." Yet they were tried again for the same crime, and convicted of adultery on the evidence of videotape that showed them in the presence of other men while their husbands were absent. The video does not show either of them engaging in any sexual activity at all.

Their crime is non-existent, their trials a miscarriage of justice, and their sentencing a barbarity.

Danish caricaturist Kurt Westergaard, who recently published another Islam critic Mohammad cartoon (with two bomb-in-turban Mohammads), is the only well-known European who openly supports Geert Wilders and the broadcasting of the movie "Fitna".

Not a single politician has had the courage to do the same.

But then again, Mr. Westergaard is the one who needs police protection 24 hours a day because the islamotards want to chop his head off.

The European politicians couldn't care less.

Which many of the misunderstanders haven't. To them, Mr. Westergaard is the extremist:

The Danish cartoonist loathes the role of members of the Muslim elite, because they compare him to ‘an extremist like Osama bin Laden’. Westergaard: ‘After the nazis, fascists and communists there is a new totalitarian force threathening Europe, of course not Muslims as a group, but a number of extremists’.

Westergaard considers his cartoons perfectly acceptable and thinks ‘everything’ should be able to be said in democracies as Denmark and the Netherlands. If Muslims feel offended by that, they should ‘learn’ to cope with that. ‘We live in a tolerant society. This is the way we do this here.’

The other alternative is to start consulting the Muslim elite before publishing anything that might be "offensive".

Is that the goal of the European politicians?

As of today, so it seems.

That's the real disgrace.

But the presence of so many prescription drugs — and over-the-counter medicines like acetaminophen and ibuprofen — in so much of our drinking water is heightening worries among scientists of long-term consequences to human health.

In the course of a five-month inquiry, the AP discovered that drugs have been detected in the drinking water supplies of 24 major metropolitan areas — from Southern California to Northern New Jersey, from Detroit to Louisville, Ky.

The supreme goal: Protect the women and children by giving the parents the necessary means.

Starting March 24 on Long Island and May 1 nationally, the curious will be able to sign up for automatic e-mail alerts drawn from data in sex-offender registries in all 50 states. The system will be run by Parents for Megan's Law and funded by a $593,000 federal grant announced Monday.

The e-mail alerts are a logical extension of sex-offender registration laws, and should be a useful tool for parents and others concerned about predators in their midst. Intuitively, forewarned is forearmed. Still, it would be good to know whether registration and notification actually help to make children safer from sexual attacks.

Those who want e-mail alerts will be able to sign up by computer and target the information they want by ZIP code. The alerts will include maps showing where each offender lives. But registries are only one tool.

Parents for Megan's Law instructs people on how to put the information to good use, educates parents on how to protect their children and delivers services for crime victims. In the end, the impetus that notification provides for parents and their children to talk about sexual abuse may be the real benefit of Megan's Law. Still, it would be good to know, beyond anecdotes, what works and what doesn't.

After a protracted 30-year insurgency which has seen up to 150,000 people killed, Muslim rebels are facing an uncertain future as peace finally looks near in the southern Philippines.

With talks due to resume this month between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) many young Muslims in this sprawling rebel camp in Mindanao are trying to come to terms with the prospect of peace.

Government negotiators and the MILF leadership are optimistic the final hurdles to peace can be overcome by granting limited autonomy to the Muslim minority in this predominant Roman Catholic Southeast Asian nation.

For many of the 12,000 MILF rebels, especially the young, peace is likely to bring an uncertain future.

MILF chief Murad Ibrahim, in a rare interview with AFP, said he was worried for their future, especially for those born into war and the many whose parents and older relatives have died as "martyrs".

Moro fighter Abdullah, who uses one name, says he is concerned about the future.

A young man in his early 20s clutching a rusty M-60 machine gun, he is a veteran of many jungle battles and is ready, he says, to die for the cause.

"I have not been to a battle since last year," Abdullah says, perspiration trickling down his brow. He is wearing mismatched fatigues that bears a striking resemblance to those used by Sri Lakan Tamil insurgents.

The crime rate in Oslo has been growing at an alarming rate and recent statistics show the Norwegian capital had 20 percent more robberies last year than in 2006.

Oslo had the highest rate per person in Scandinavia in terms of reported crimes, with 90 reported crimes per 1,000.

Copenhagen had 50 crimes reported per 1,000 and Stockholm had 79.

In New York, there were 22 reported crimes per 1,000 inhabitants.

This means there were four times as many reported crimes per person in Oslo as in New York.

Any theories about what's going on?

Must be difficult being political correct with statistics like the ones above:

The Oslo police are blaming the increase on an influx of East Europeans, and Minister of Justice Knut Storberget is reportedly partly in agreement.

However, Storberget said it is necessary to be careful drawing parallels with such statistics. "But regardless, we can say the crime figures in Oslo are too high," he was reported to have said.

Nevertheless, I believe "Fitna" is going to be one of the most seen movies this year.

Terror training ringleaders jailed:

Two men who masterminded a British terrorist training and recruitment cell have been jailed.

Mohammed Hamid and Atilla Ahmet founded the al-Qaida- style cell to prepare young Muslims to fight jihad.

Among Hamid’s recruits were several of the July 21 failed bombers, including ringleader Muktar Said Ibrahim.

Hamid, 50 - who once bragged to police that his name was "Osama bin London" - arranged weekly brain-washing talks at his home in east London, where impressionable young men were ‘groomed’.

He also organised training camps at picturesque locations in the English countryside - including a Berkshire paintballing centre, the New Forest, Lake District, Kent and East Sussex.

He was jailed indefinitely with a minimum term of seven-and-a-half years at Woolwich Crown Court.

Trial judge Mr Justice Pitchers told Hamid that he will continue to be a danger to the public because of his ability to persuade others to commit terrorism.

But we aren't allowed to say there's a link between Islam and terrorism?

If you are one of those who really think it is impossible to find elements of violence and hatred in the Koran, begin with convincing misunderstanders of Islam like the morons above.

There are 82 Kurt Westergaards living in Denmark but only one of them is the man who life is under daily threat because of his caricatures of the founder of Islam.

However, some of other 81 "Kurts" scattered across Denmark have also received mistaken identity death threats because they share the same name as the illustrator.

One, a businessman from the Danish town of Aabenraa, has been offered protection by Denmark's intelligence agency, the PET, after receiving multiple death threats.

"The worst thing was that they also called my three children. They wanted to kidnap my family and murder me," he said.

Three weeks ago police arrested three men for conspiracy to murder the real Kurt Westergaard. He joked to media yesterday that "at least it takes some of the immense pressure off of me".

"As one of my friends put it, it's too bad for the Kurts," he said.

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The Netherlands is to raise its national risk level of a terrorist attack to "substantial", partly due to a new film made by a politician that is expected to be critical of the Koran, media reported on Thursday.

The justice minister is expected to send parliament an updated threat assessment later in the day, also citing a heightened terrorism threat level around the world, unnamed cabinet sources told ANP news agency.

The level had been at "substantial" before as religious and racial tensions simmered after an Islamic militant killed director Theo Van Gogh in 2004 over a separate film he made accusing Islam of condoning violence against women.

Do you see the irony?

Anyway, this is a golden opportunity for muslims and muslim leaders to make a fool of Geert Wilders.

In fact, they, as worshipers of islam, have a responsability and an obligation to prove Mr. Wilders wrong.

I urge every muslim to follow the National Moroccan Council's advise:

"We will have succeeded if, after the film, Mr. Wilders is frustrated," chairman, Mohamed Rabbae said at a news conference in January. "If he sees there are no riots and Muslims are cleverer and more democratic than he thinks."

Shouldn't be too hard to accomplish in a civilized world.

An American university professor has been fired after he angered students by publishing Danish cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed on his website.

According to UAE daily Gulf News, the caricatures were published on a personal website used by students to download course notes.

“Many incensed students, mainly from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, protested vehemently and argued with the professor, and eventually reported him to the president of the university for insulting Islam,” students told the newspaper.

The professor who was initially suspended, faced a ‘barrage of criticism’ from students who demanded a zero-tolerance policy against anyone who offended Muslims by reprinting the cartoons.

"The university eventually backtracked on its decision to reinstate the professor and sacked him despite a formal apology and the removal of the cartoons from his website," the sources said.

Gulf News did not give the name or location of the university, but marked the report from Manama in Bahrain.

Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende is doing his best to block the anti-islam movie "Fitna".

Now Geert Wilders has been obliged agreed to screen the film for the dutch anti-terror coordinator.

First time in history? Don't know, but hey, what can go wrong? After all, the movie is about the Religion of Peace!

Mr. Wilders also has a few words for the Prime Minister:

Anti-Islam MP Geert Wilders says he will allow the Dutch anti-terrorism coordinator to see his controversial anti-Koran film before it is released, but only on condition that the viewing is not used as and excuse to ban it, NOS tv reports on Tuesday.

Earlier the Telegraaf said Wilders had refused to show the 10-minute film to Tjibbe Joustra, who is responsible for Wilders' security.

Wilders also blamed prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende for ‘all the trouble to come’, according to NOS. Balkenende is a ‘weak, frightened man who gives way to threats’, Wilders, leader of the PVV anti-immigration party said.

The leader of the right-wing Freedom Party, Geert Wilders says there is nothing illegal about his anti-Qur'an film Fitna. He is negotiating with a number of television stations about their broadcasting the film, under the condition that it be sent out in its entirety.

Mr Wilders hopes to find a television station willing to broadcast the 15-minute film within the next few days; otherwise he will show it at a press conference later this month and then broadcast it via the internet. He is willing to show the film to National Anti-Terrorism Coordinator Tjebbe Joustra one day before its broadcast. However, he wants a guarantee that the film will not be banned. Sources in the Justice Department say such a guarantee cannot be given.

Basra, Iraq: "I hate Islam"

After almost five years of war, many young people in Iraq, exhausted by constant firsthand exposure to the violence of religious extremism, say they have grown disillusioned with religious leaders and skeptical of the faith that they preach.

In two months of interviews with 40 young people in five Iraqi cities, a pattern of disenchantment emerged, in which young Iraqis, both poor and middle class, blamed clerics for the violence and the restrictions that have narrowed their lives.

“I hate Islam and all the clerics because they limit our freedom every day and their instruction became heavy over us,” said Sara, a high school student in Basra. “Most of the girls in my high school hate that Islamic people control the authority because they don’t deserve to be rulers.”

Atheer, a 19-year-old from a poor, heavily Shiite neighborhood in southern Baghdad, said: “The religion men are liars. Young people don’t believe them. Guys my age are not interested in religion anymore.”

But a shift seems to be registering, at least anecdotally, in the choices some young Iraqis are making.

Professors reported difficulty in recruiting graduate students for religion classes. Attendance at weekly prayers appears to be down, even in areas where the violence has largely subsided, according to worshipers and imams in Baghdad and Falluja.

A professor at Baghdad University’s School of Law, who identified herself only as Bushra, said of her students: “They have changed their views about religion. They started to hate religious men. They make jokes about them because they feel disgusted by them.”

Violent struggle against the United States was easy to romanticize at a distance.

“I used to love Osama bin Laden,” proclaimed a 24-year-old Iraqi college student. She was referring to how she felt before the war took hold in her native Baghdad. The Sept. 11, 2001, strike at American supremacy was satisfying, and the deaths abstract.

Now, the student recites the familiar complaints: Her college has segregated the security checks; guards told her to stop wearing a revealing skirt; she covers her head for safety.

“Now I hate Islam,” she said, sitting in her family’s unadorned living room in central Baghdad. “Al Qaeda and the Mahdi Army are spreading hatred. People are being killed for nothing.”

There is a new favorite game in the lively household of the young Baghdad journalist. When they see a man with a turban on television, they yell and crack jokes. In one joke, people are warned not to give their cellphone numbers to a religious man.

“If he knows the number, he’ll steal the phone’s credit,” the journalist said. “The sheiks are making a society of nonbelievers.”

Two of the country's leading experts in religion believe that the Copenhagen-based Islamic Faith Society patterns itself after the Muslim Brotherhood, one of the world's most influential organisations supporting Islamic fundamentalism.

Both Kate Østergaard of the University of Copenhagen and Tina Magaard of Aarhus University have researched the practices, publications and teachings at the Islamic Faith Society and are convinced that there is a direct link between it and the Egyptian-based Muslim Brotherhood.

'The Islamic Faith Society belongs to that branch of Muslim organisations which work together with society's democratic representatives, but whose aims are geared more toward Islamicising democracy than democratising Islam,' Magaard told Berlingske Tidende newspaper.

While the Muslim Brotherhood does not officially support the use of terror, several of its former members have established terrorist organisations and its ultimate goal is to spread fundamental Islam throughout the Western world.

Magaard believes that is also the goal of the Islamic Faith Society.

'Hizb-ut Tahrir and the Islamic Faith Society work through different means to achieve the same goals - specifically, the institution of Islamic law and ultimately the establishment of an Islamic state,' said Magaard. 'While (controversial Islamic group) Hizb-ut Tahrir represents a more bombastic and often violent rhetoric, the Islamic Faith Society prefers to operate through co-operation with the Danish authorities to get gradual results.'

Sounds credible to me.

AMSTERDAM, March 3 (Reuters) - The Dutch government is looking into whether it can stop a politician from releasing an anti-Koran film, fearing attacks on its citizens and businesses, a newspaper reported on Monday.

Government lawyers are looking into whether there are legal grounds to ban the film by anti-immigration lawmaker Geert Wilders, who has likened the Koran to Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf, the Telegraaf reported, citing sources close to the cabinet.

No comment from the government was immediately available.

The newspaper said the coalition government was divided on the film with the Christian Democrats more in favour of a ban while Labour was pushing freedom of expression and calling on Muslim countries to prevent violence against the Netherlands.

Has the government even seen Geert Wilders film yet? I doubt it.

The movie threatens the nation, you see. Not the irrational rage and grievance culture found in Muslim populations at home and abroad. Not the texts and teachings of Islam that mandate violence against uppity dhimmis and other unbelievers. Therefore, Wilders is to blame for people who react to his film with said irrational rage and violence.

This could be good news:

The research began with the discovery of black fungus growing on the walls of the damaged, highly radioactive Chernobyl nuclear reactor and collected by robots.

The fungus was rich with melanin, the same pigment that gives human skin its color, protecting the skin from solar and ultraviolet radiation. Melanin is found in many, if not most, fungal species.

"The fungal kingdom comprises more species than any other plant or animal kingdom," said researcher Arturo Casadevall, an immunologist at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Nuclear and other high-energy reactions give off ionizing radiation — dangerous rays and particles that can damage genes and thus cause mutations, and eventually cancer.

"Just as the pigment chlorophyll converts sunlight into chemical energy that allows green plants to live and grow," so might melanin help fungi make use of ionizing radiation, said nuclear medicine specialist Ekaterina Dadachova at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

The scientists experimented on three species of fungi. They consistently found that ionizing radiation significantly boosted the growth of fungi that contained melanin.

"We have fundamental differences of opinion with" Wilders, Balkenende said. "It is our responsibility to Wilders to point to the possible consequences of his actions. Freedom does not absolve anyone of responsibility.

"To ensure the safety of Dutch citizens and businesses abroad ... for our international reputation, we call on (Wilders) to take all these aspects into account for his decision" on whether to show the film or not.

Afghanistan's extremist Taliban movement warned last week it would step up attacks against Dutch soldiers if the "insulting" film was broadcast.

Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende advocates freedom but would love to censor "Fitna" because he fears the radical islamists.

CAIRO, Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Danish and Dutch filmmakers are barred from an international children's film festival in Egypt because artists in those countries insulted Islam, a report said.

The ban has no immediate effect on Denmark, the Copenhagen Post reported. No one from the country has participated in the festival since 2005.

Diplomats from the Netherlands are trying to negotiate terms for the country's entries in the festival to be shown.

The immediate causes of offense are Danish newspapers' decision to reprint 12 caricatures of Mohammed after three men were charged with plotting to kill one of the cartoonists in November and a Dutch film that attacks the Koran.

Fawzi Fahmi, the festival director, told Radio Netherlands that the ban is "a symbolic gesture toward all those who have insulted and degraded monotheistic religions."
