Muslim rapists want to skip the group therapy organized by the prison, because it is against their religion.
They haven't said anything about the crime itself being against the Religion of Peace.
True madness:
MUSLIM rapists and paedophiles could be excused sex offender courses in prison – because it is against their religion. But there's more to it, my friends.
Prison chiefs are now examining whether there is a “legitimate Islamic position” that Muslim criminals should not discuss their crimes.
The move follows a complaint from one inmate that attending the Sex Offender Treatment Programme involved talking about his offences in group sessions.
One convict has had to stay longer in prison because he refused to attend the group therapy. For this, he's suing the Prison Service:
Even more incredible is the prospect of a convict suing the Prison Service because he has been kept in jail longer for not attending a treatment course.Conservative Philip Davies (MP) straightens things out:
“They are not that committed to their religion if they are willing to breach it to commit a crime in the first place.Indeed.
“We must be a laughing stock among some members of the Muslim community. We must make it clear they are going to have to fall in line. If they do not like it they should not have committed the crime. We have to stop bending over backwards to accommodate every request on the grounds it offends one faith or another.”
Update: On the other hand...:
Mark Leech, editor of the Prisons Handbook, said: “It is feasible there may be a judicial review so that Muslim sex offenders get a dispensation from the rules.”I assume other prisoners will commence using the Bible for more "practical" purposes.
Probation union NAPO said the situation presented “an intractable problem”. Muslims might seek legal redress for being discriminated against on the grounds of religion.
