Politically Correct Counterterrorism

Communities Secretary Hazel Blears talks about the incidents that took place last weekend in London and Glasgow.

If there was an award for political correctness, she would take it home.

More politically correct you.can.not.be:

These terrorists don't care who their victims are. They can come from any background, any race, any faith," she said.
Really?

Your statement was debunked even before you started blathering.

Says Ace: Has there in all of human history been a less diverse group of people?
Same area of origin, same profession, same level of education, same employer, same country of residence, same religion, same ideology, same social class, same (we can guess) income level.

Same native language, same status as immigrant workers, same pathway to their jobs, same social circles. (Two of the bombers had been introduced years before by their fathers, who were friends.)

Same hobbies and interests: Chiefly, mass murder.
FYI, Communities Secretary Hazel Blears' portfolio includes counterterrorism.

How encouraging.

Update: Someone tell Hazel Blears to have a cup of tea and a chat with Egyptian sociologist and civil rights activist Sa'd Al-Din Ibrahim:
It Is Understandable That People are Raising Questions About the Relationship Between Islam and Terrorism

"Despite there being no known connection between the events in Gaza and those in Tripoli, the proliferation of the use of Islamic appellations (The Islamic Resistance Movement [i.e. Hamas], Fath Al-Islam, Hizbullah, Jund Al-Sham, Islamic Jihad) has made Arab and Islamic public opinion ask itself whether there is something in Islam, as a faith or as a practice, that leads to all this violence and aggression. And it is understandable that they should ask this.

"The memory of the blowing up of the twin towers of the World Trade Center in September 2001, with its 3,000 victims of many [different] nationalities, lives on in the minds of many. If we add to this the pictures of the daily bombings in Iraq, also carried out under Islamic appellations, or, prior to them, the suicide attacks in [both] Islamic and non-Islamic countries, from Bali in East Asia to Casablanca in western Africa; by way of what is being done in Darfur in Sudan by the forces of the Omar Al-Bashir regime, which claims that it too rules in the name of Islam; or the extended fighting in Somalia, which is being led by the so-called Islamic Courts - [in light of all of this], we must ask to excuse those who are raising questions about the relationship between Islam and violence or terrorism.
Update: More than relevant. Iowahawk notices an UK Warning: Look Out For People Doing Things
On Tuesday, new British Prime Minister Gordon Brown met with representatives of the medical and car communities and announced that the government would henceforth prohibit occupational and transportational profiling by public officials. Brown said further government communications would prohibit the use of certain prejudicial words like "doctor," "Vauxhall," "podiatrist," "propane," "Asia," "drive," "ticking noises," "panic," and "the." Brown also announced the formation of a blue ribbon multicultural community advisory board chaired by Dr. Mohammed Ibn-Yasin of the UK Islamic Podiatric and Car Bombing Club.
Read it all. It is almost not satire...
