45 African immigrants died last night

A total of 45 African immigrants died as they tried to approach The Canarian Island. They had been navigating in two "pateras" (small boats generally in bad condition) since Friday, and the water supply had ended and the gas was used up. A fishing-boat found them drifting outside the occidental coast of Sahara and during the rescue the "patera" crashed into the fishing-boat and got crushed. Only 23 of the 46 Africans were rescued.
The other "patera" was going to Las Palmas of Gran Canaria, but it ended up drifting due to an engine problem, and bad weather in the region resulted fatal. 22 immigrants died.

The Africans, or illegal immigrants, left Africa in search for jobs in Spain and Europe.

The Government of Spain is dealing with a severe problem, and it is raising as the time goes by and it seems as there are no more alternatives. What could be done to improve this inacceptable situation? First of all, Europe must participate and back up the spanish government more than they have done so far. It´s not a problem for Spain only, but for the whole community of Europe, and, for not to mention, the poor immigrants who struggle for their survival. One has to find out why they have to leave their countries, and then search for formulas that can improve the situation for the African people in their own country.

Mueren 45 inmigrantes al naufragar las dos pateras. Un total de 45 inmigrantes irregulares, casi todos subsaharianos, han muerto ahogados al naufragar en aguas de Mauritania dos pateras que se dirigían hacia Canarias.
En el primer naufragio fallecieron 23 inmigrantes irregulares, mientras que otros 20 pudieron ser rescatados con vida por una patrullera marroquí. En el segundo naufragio perecieron ahogados 22 inmigrantes y 24 sobrevivieron, los cuales fueron rescatados por patrulleras de Mauritania. La primera patera salió el pasado viernes de la localidad mauritana de Nouadhibou con 43 personas a bordo y después de varias horas de travesía, se quedaron sin agua y sin gasolina. Cuando se encontraban cerca de la localidad de Dajla (Sáhara Occidental), avistaron un pesquero. Al aproximarse al barco, debido al oleaje, la patera contra el casco, se rompió en pedazos y naufragó. De los 46 inmigrantes, todos ellos varones, 20 fueron rescatados con vida. El resto de los fallecidos viajaba en una patera que también salió el domingo de Nouadhibou con dirección a Las Palmas de Gran Canaria y naufragó a unos 20 kilómetros de la costa, al sufrir graves problemas en el motor, en una zona de fuerte oleaje.

El Gobierno de España está tratando con un tema difícil que se complica cada vez más, y una solución parece casi imposible. ¿Qué puede hacerse para mejorar esta situación insostenible? Ante todo debe de haber consenso con la UE de que esto no es sólo un problema de España, sino de toda la comunidad europea, por no hablar de los inmigrantes illegales, que están luchando para sobrevivir. Se deben hallar las razones por las cuales los africanos deciden arriesgar su vida en las pateras, y qué se puede hacer para que quieran y puedan seguir viviendo en sus propios países.
